Hygenic solutions

Storsackgroup is one of the main FIBC suppliers to the food and pharmaceutical industry. Over the past decade Storsackgroup has been at the forefront in shaping market developments through design; setting the standards that have become widely adopted throughout the industry.

Our philosophy
We recognise it is our responsibility to exercise the necessary ”due diligence” by making all reasonable research and taking sensible precaution in the development, manufacture, storage and distribution of our products to the food and pharmaceutical industry. As a vertically integrated manufacturer, we directly control most of the processes involved in the production of FIBCs . However any suppliers we involve in the chain are obliged to put into place the appropriate systems and controls we stipulate to ensure suitability of their product for safe food use. To ensure compliance to these standards, Storsackgroup and its suppliers, regularly commission hygiene audits in line industry standards and to satisfy legislative requirements. This audit process ensures the ongoing review and improvement of our premises and working practices takes place. Many customers involved in the food manufacturing and pharmaceutical sectors have also inspected our production facilities in order to satisfy themselves that those systems and procedures meet their requirements.

The “due diligence” incorporates the following unique code of practice:

  • Conformity to FDA and ECDirective 2002/72/EC and amending directive relating to plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with foods.
  • Inspection of facilities by customers.
  • Ongoing surveillance and confirmation of the follow up of corrective actions on nonconformance to the relevant standards thus ensuring that a self-improving quality, hygiene and product safety system is established.
  • Ability to supply the customer from our “Clean Room” facilities if required.
  • Currently we work on improving our practices in line with the BRC (British Retail Consortium) standard. Accreditation is anticipated during 2004.

    Benefit to the customer:
Our unique approach ensures we take responsibility for compliance of the product we supply to the relevant food and hygiene standards. Our customer benefits tremendously through the reduction in risk on their product liability.
